Baking with Mommy

It was a rainy, cool morning and I felt like baking so Kellen helped me make his favorite, cupcakes. He is a great baker but very messy and he eats half of what we make before it goes in the oven. He even helps with clean-up.

New fuzzy PJs

Grammy bought Kellen new fuzzy Jammie's and he just loves them. He even asked to wear them to school.

A perfect fall day

It was a beautiful fall day Sunday - crisp air, bright sun and great friends. We went to a local farm that has animals, apple and pumpkin picking and wagon rides - great for the kids. Kellen loved it this year and had to pick his own and carry the bags. Gotta love the "I do it" stage!

Daddy's office

Kellen likes to go to work with Daddy. Crazy how this generation knows their way around computers or as Kellen says "compooters". He knows how to use the keyboard and mouse and can fully navigate the iPad all on his own - find his own folder, open games, play them, etc. Of course he thinks any screen is now a touch screen and tries to do it to the TV, desktop, etc.

A boy and his dog...

Found them the other morning just sitting there like this, too cute not to snap a quick photo.

Thumb sucker

Liam has been trying for weeks to master thumb sucking. He has finally got the hang of it, now he loves it and has been doing great at night soothing himself. It really is adorable.

The Big Dig

Not exactly the way we wanted to spend Greg's hard-earned bonus this year, but it was a necessary evil. We had a new well drilled in our backyard because our other well wasn't producing the desired output and now that the house is built and landscaped they couldn't get the machinery in a location to redrill in the existing spot. While they were here with the big equipment, we had them clear away some of our back hill to the ledge to give us more level ground. Needless to say, our entire backyard is a pile of dirt and rocks...and I'm sure you can guess that Kellen was in his glory between the big trucks, the dirt and rocks and our neighbor Mark bringing over his tractor to help us with the clean-up. I think when this project is complete, we will really like the outcome, but in the meantime it is a disaster!

Liam at 2 months

Liam continues to be a well-proportioned average kid. 11 1/2 pounds (50th), 23 inches (75th), head 75th. He is doing wonderfully according to his doc. He got 4 shots, poor guy, making him a bit fussy. He's very smiley these days and just loves to have someone talk to him. I think we have another social little guy on our hands. He's definitely got a schedule now - falls asleep around 7 or 730, wakes up about 5 hours later to eat and then goes about 4 hours and eats again and goes back to sleep. He's not stretching it out any longer yet but at least he goes right back to sleep. I can't wait for a good nights sleep!

Fun Labor Day

After a very long week with Kellen home sick for 3 days, it was a great and much deserved long weekend. We thought Kellen had croup, whatever it was, it was a doozie, made worse by trying to make sure the baby didn't get it. So I had a very whiney, sick Kellen home for 3 days - poor Liam spent a lot of time in the bouncy seat.
We did salvage the weekend and went to a local farm with petting zoo, on a nature hike and to Beardsley Zoo. Here are some highlights.

GG's 97th Birthday

What a lucky guy that Liam still has three wonderful GG's in his life. This weekend we traveled to Albany to spend GG Rutherford's 97th birthday with her. She continues to amaze us all and was in great spirits for her special day. She was so thrilled she got to meet Liam and couldn't wait to hold him!! Happy Birthday GG Mary!!

To 8 great years and many more to come

We celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary tonight! Hard to believe we are almost to 10 already. With a 2 yr old and 7 week old- we stayed in and I cooked a nice dinner - crab cake appetizer, salad course, and Panko breaded sea scallops with chocolate mousse for dessert. We ate by candlelight with no kids - that's as romantic as it gets these days!
Happy anniversary!!
